Bristol Fawcett is a member of the Avon Fire and Rescue Service Equalities Consultation Group. Our attendance is supported by an attendance grant.
Bristol Feminist Network
Many Bristol Fawcett members are also members of Bristol Feminist
Network, a group of women and men from Bristol and the surrounding
areas who are interested in discussing feminist ideas, who believe in
the importance of women’s liberation, and who actively campaign
on issues of gender inequality and oppression. The e-group is located here.
Bristol Rape Crisis
Bristol
Fawcett members were instrumental in campaigning for and setting up
Bristol's Rape Crisis service for women and girls, which opened in
2009 and with which we continue to have strong links.
Bristol Fawcett has been a longstanding member of Bristol Women’s Forum, which operated until 2010 as a council-supported body for bringing the voices of women to local decision making bodies. The Women's Forum will be replaced by a new network by the end of 2011. In the meantime Bristol Fawcett continue to maintain links with the city council - monitoring the policies, programmes and practices of Bristol City Council and its partner organisations. We continue to represent the interests of women and girls on a number of bodies including:
Bristol Partnership’s Equalities Action Group
Safer Bristol’s Violence and Abuse Against Women and Girls Strategic Group
Bristol City Council Scrutiny Commission for Community Cohesion and Safety
We are members of VOSCUR, Bristol’s Council for Voluntary Service.
University of the West of England - Bristol Institute of Technology
In 2007-08, a team of Information Systems students from the University
of the West of England undertook a consultancy project for us resulting
in much improved communications both internally (our closed e-group)
and externally (this website!) This project has been of immense
benefit to Bristol Fawcett and has enabled us to improve our efficiency
as well as our reach.
End Violence Against Women Coalition
We are members of the Coalition to End Violence Against Women.
Fair Play South West
We are members of Fair Play South West, the regional network on gender issues.
